Archives Search

Archives Main Catalogue
The Archives Main Catalogue contains descriptions of unpublished archival records, such as diaries, letters, and minute books, for over 3,500 families, organizations, and businesses in southern Alberta.

Finding Aids/Scanned Documents
The Finding Aids/Scanned Documents provides links to detailed catalogues for 750 of our most popular and highly used archival fonds, and to over 75,000 pages of digitized archival documents relating to Mounted Police, First Nations, immigration and settlement, farm organizations, and politics.

Archives Photographs
The Archives Photographs Catalogue contains 110,000 historical photographs, illustrations, posters and cartoons, documenting the people, landscape, and development of the Canadian West from the 1870s to the 1990s.

The Programs Catalogue contains descriptions of over 1,100 programs of concerts, dinners, openings, commemorations, theatre productions, graduations, political rallies, and sporting events held in Alberta (predominantly in Calgary) from 1886 to the 1900s.

The Music Catalogue contains descriptions of over 300 pieces of sheet music (1867-1980s), and over 500 sound recordings (1914-2000s) written, published or performed by western Canadians, or which have a Western or Canadian theme.

Library Main Catalogue
The Library Main Catalogue contains descriptions of over 100,000 books, pamphlets, journals, newspapers, and government documents relating to the history, art, Native peoples, and popular culture of Western Canada, with an emphasis on Calgary and southern Alberta.

Newspaper Clippings
The Newspaper Clippings Catalogue contains listings of 15,000 newspaper clipping files maintained by the Library of people, places, and subjects relating to the history of Western Canada, with an emphasis on Calgary and southern Alberta. Selective clipping of a wide range of local newspapers has occurred over the past 50 years, with some parts of the collection dating back to the 1880s.

Trade Catalogues
The Trade Catalogues database contains descriptions of over 6,500 trade and store catalogues, cookbooks, and how-to manuals relating to the agriculture, industry, and material culture of Western Canada, with an emphasis on Calgary and southern Alberta.
